ISO9001:2015

1) What are the benefits of having an IS0 Quality System?

Improved financial performance – most organisations report increased customer perception of the organisations performance, inclusion on approved suppliers lists increased orders,  improved employee and engagement (Dun and Bradstreet findings)

2) How long will it take to get ISO9001 certification (how much will it cost)?

This involves several factors: the size and complexity of the business (do you make one thing or several?),  is there any paper system in place already, the clients time and commitment in doing their bit towards certification. Example - for a SME metal fabricator 6 days work may be typical of the time involved although this can increase depending on the factors above.

3) What is ISO9001:2015 involved?

  1. preparation of the  QMS (Quality Management System) documents which means the Consultant working on his own with minimal interaction with the customer to create the documents common to each QMS then the Consultant spending more time with the customers staff to more create the job specific documents.
  2. A round of internal quality audits during which the business procedures, prepared at a. above are checked against what is actually happening. A revision of the procedures may follow.
  3. Management Review Meeting – carried out and minuted to show that the organisation has assessed and endorsed the QMS and it requirements
  4. Assessment by an independent Assessing Body (AB) – in two stages over to visits
  5. Award of ISO9001 certificate lasting three years – the AB visit each year for Surveillance visit to check that the QMS is being adhered to.

4) Is the whole process very disruptive?

Adept Systems ensures that there is minimal disruption to the clients’ day-to-day work and minimal demands on anyone’s time.

5) What is required following after the certification?

The completion of the internal audits is the main ongoing job following certification. Other records need to be kept up to date. These include: Management Review Meetings Minutes, Improvement Plans, Problem Reporting records etc. The AB checks on these at his Surveillance visits.
